“Baku COP 29 will be remembered in world history as the most important global event that has seriously tackled and shaped public policies that will benefit the Earth and overall environment, unlike any other global assembly gathering to improve the quality of air, defend fresh water resources, improve soil sciences, strengthening agriculture and uphold the atmospheric science,” American expert on international relations Peter Tase said in an interview with AZERTAC.
Referring also to COP30, Tase said Brazil has been hit hard by significant trade tariffs imposed by the United States and that the government is applying protectionist measures toward other South American nations.
He noted that COP29 made history with its magnificent organization and hosting. “Baku has become one of the best cities in the world, with its impressive urban development and architecture, and its congress centers capable of receiving numerous international guests for globally significant events,” he emphasized.
The expert recalled that key global issues such as climate finance, the Loss and Damage Fund, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), emissions reduction, and carbon markets were addressed during the Baku conference, adding that these issues are likely to fade away during COP30 in Belém.
