Partnership with Azerbaijan strengthens Europe's strategic autonomy, says expert

Cooperation with Azerbaijan is becoming an important element of the European Union's (EU) strategy to strengthen its strategic autonomy and mitigate external risks, said Stefano Braghiroli, Italian political scientist and Director of the European Studies Program, in the latest episode of the "Azerbaijan and the World" program broadcast on the AZERTAC website.

According to him, modern challenges are pushing Europe to seek new, more sustainable models of cooperation in energy and logistics.

The expert noted that, as part of the Global Gateway initiative, the EU is seeking to diversify not only energy sources but also transport routes, and in this context, Azerbaijan is acting not simply as a resource supplier but as a strategic partner capable of ensuring stability and predictability. "Such cooperation allows Europe not only to strengthen energy security but also to more confidently build its role in the emerging multipolar system," the political scientist emphasized.
