The opening ceremony of the 7th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth was held in the Zangilan district on August 2, jointly organized by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
In alignment with the presidential decree designating 2026 as the "Year of Urban Planning and Architecture" in Azerbaijan, this year’s camp is taking place in East Zangezur under the motto "Reviving Cities."
The opening proceedings featured a retrospective video documenting the historic visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Zangilan and the official hoisting of the national flag in the city. Promotional materials showcasing the accomplishments of past summer camps and the ongoing operational initiatives of the State Committee were also presented to attendees.
This year's event gathers over 120 young diaspora representatives hailing from 64 countries. Running through August 8, the program offers participants an immersive overview of the historical and cultural heritage of East Zangezur and Garabagh. The itinerary includes excursions across liberated territories, panel discussions, educational workshops, language instruction, and meetings with public officials, subject-matter experts, families of martyrs, and war veterans.
Inaugurated in Sheki in 2018, the Diaspora Youth Summer Camps have subsequently been hosted in Shamakhi, Shusha, Nakhchivan, Lachin, and Khankendi, engaging more than 700 young participants from 84 countries to date.
