Albania’s organic food producers are strengthening their presence in European markets as demand grows for certified products and as local farmers improve standards, ATA reported citing the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla visited the village of Kllogjer in central Albanian municipality of Gramsh, where the “Bio-Holta” family enterprise produces organic wine, raki and medicinal herbs that are now exported to Austria.
The venture is run by agronomist Shefqet Hysa, known locally for promoting organic cultivation.
Bio-Holta has become a reference point for organic production in the area, combining traditional methods with modern standards, Salla said.
Hysa is the first producer in Gramsh to make raki exclusively from organic grapes, working with local farmers to ensure a fully traceable value chain.
State support schemes for organic farming have helped reduce production costs and improve quality, Salla added, saying this has strengthened the position of “Made in Albania” products across European markets, including Austria.
