İlkin Aydın: The goal is always to win the championship in every tournament

National volleyball player İlkin Aydın made statements to Demirören News Agency (DHA) ahead of the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL), which will start on June 3. Stating that their goal is to win the championship in every tournament, İlkin Aydın said, “It is not possible for me to speak long-term right now. But currently, there is a very enjoyable and very young team. First, we have a small preparatory tournament in Italy. There, we will have the opportunity to get to know each other better. After that, we are going to Brazil. Last year, we participated in Brazil with a young team again and achieved 4 out of 4. Of course, the goal is always to win the championship in every tournament. We will try to do our best.”

‘WE ENDED WITH A CUP, WE ENDED HAPPILY’

Talking about the season Galatasaray, the team she plays for, had, the national volleyball player said, “It was really a very intense and challenging season for us. We ended with a cup, we ended happily. We ended loving volleyball, and we continue loving it. We had a lot of injuries. We couldn’t achieve what we wanted in the league season, but we managed to rise from there and become champions. Therefore, I thank the staff, my friends, and my club.”

‘PLAYING IN FRONT OF OUR OWN FANS IS VERY SPECIAL’

Speaking about one leg of the VNL taking place in Ankara, İlkin said, “Of course, we are never alone anywhere, but playing at home, in front of our own fans, is always very special for us. Wherever they are, we always feel their support. I thank them.”

İlkin Aydın explained the consistency in the national team’s constant medal contention as, “I think it’s because everyone here does their job with love.”
