Farid Gayibov: UFC and Formula 1 contribute to tourism development

More than 3,000 fans from abroad traveled to Baku for the second Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event held in the Azerbaijani capital, Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov told journalists.

According to Report, he recalled that Baku hosted its first UFC tournament last year.

"This year, we organized the second event. We have signed a three-year contract with the UFC. I believe the second tournament was also a success. More than 3,000 fans came from abroad. The event attracted significant attention from Azerbaijani fans as well. UFC and Formula 1 are both important in terms of tourism development," Gayibov said.

UFC Fight Night Baku was held on June 27. Representing Azerbaijan, Tahir Abdullayev defeated Brazil's Jefferson Nascimento, while Farman Hasanov overcame American fighter Eric Nolan. Nazim Sadykhov lost to Brazil's Matheus Camilo. In the main event of the evening, Rafael Fiziev defeated Mexico's Manuel Torres.
