Azerbaijani female wrestler Fatima Bayramova was defeated in the quarterfinals of the U17 Wrestling World Championships in Baku.
According to Report, competing in the 53 kg category, Bayramova lost to American athlete Marlee Jade Solomon with a score of 1:8.
Earlier in the tournament, Bayramova had achieved two dominant victories: defeating Israeli wrestler Sela Judith Rozov and Moldovan athlete Ruslana Carapetiant, both with scores of 11:0.
Hosted at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, the U17 Wrestling World Championships, running from July 27 through August 2, bring together close to 700 competitors from over 60 nations, with Azerbaijan fielding 29 athletes.
Azerbaijani wrestlers have so far won six medals in the tournament. In Greco-Roman wrestling, Ali Javadli (45 kg), Abdurrahman Huseynli (51 kg), and Isfahan Hasanov (80 kg) won silver medals, while Omar Salmanov (48 kg), Elmir Charkazov (60 kg), and Orkhan Habibli (65 kg) claimed bronze medals.
