The wrestlers competing at the World Championships today will become Azerbaijan's Olympic hopes in the future, Rafig Huseynov, head coach of Azerbaijan's U17 Greco-Roman wrestling team, said, Report informs.
He said he was pleased with the team's performance at the U17 World Championships in Baku.
"I am proud of every athlete. Regardless of the result, all of them have done tremendous work. In sports, there is always only one winner, and defeat is a step toward future victories. The main thing is to draw conclusions and become stronger," Huseynov said.
He urged athletes who did not win medals not to lose motivation and called on fans to continue supporting the young wrestlers.
"These boys competing at the World Championships today will become Azerbaijan's Olympic hopes tomorrow," the head coach stressed.
Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestlers finished the U17 World Championships at the National Gymnastics Arena in second place in the team standings, winning six medals.
Ali Javadli (45 kg), Abdurrahman Huseynli (51 kg) and Isfahan Hasanov (80 kg) won silver medals, while Omar Salmanov (48 kg), Elmir Charkazov (60 kg) and Orkhan Habibli (65 kg) claimed bronze.
