President Erdoğan: We aim to rapidly transform 6.5 million houses
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "We aim to rapidly transform 6.5 million houses across Turkey. When we complete these, our cities will both beautify and become much more prepared for earthquakes."

President Erdoğan attended the 'Kahramanmaraş Urban Transformation Mass Groundbreaking Ceremony' via live connection from the Presidential Complex. Erdoğan wished mercy to the soldiers who were martyred in the clash during the operations in the Claw-Kilit region. Erdoğan reminded that more than 6 months have passed since the earthquakes, the disaster of the century, and said, "We have experienced one of the most devastating natural disasters not only in our country but also in the history of humanity. We buried more than 50 thousand of our spouses, friends, children, relatives and neighbours in just one night. Immediately after the earthquake, we visited our disaster-stricken provinces on different occasions and stated that our state is with you with all its means. During the election period, we never withdrew our hand from the earthquake region. We personally followed the works, needs and problems in the field. We tried to meet the needs of our earthquake victims by starting with the most urgent ones. According to our determinations; almost 1 third of Maraş had become uninhabitable. The number of earthquake houses to be built in our city is 19 thousand 418. Together with village houses and barns, this figure reaches 29 thousand 47. In the earthquake zone, a total of 680 thousand houses and 170 thousand independent sections such as stables, warehouses and workplaces need to be built. We have never despaired in the face of this heavy picture. While carrying out debris removal works on the one hand; on the other hand, we immediately rolled up our sleeves to bring our people whose houses and workplaces were destroyed to their new homes. 178 thousand 350 containers have been installed in 325 container cities."
