Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova met with Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yilmaz on the margins of the 30th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) held in Belém, Federative Republic of Brazil.
Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yilmaz praised Azerbaijan’s excellent organization of COP29 held in Baku in 2024, noting that important decisions had been adopted during the conference. He emphasized that Türkiye had actively participated in that event.
Cevdet Yilmaz extended his congratulations on the occasion of November 8 – Victory Day, emphasizing that as a result of this great victory, Azerbaijan liberated its lands from occupation.
Sahiba Gafarova noted that relations between the two friendly and brotherly countries are developing on the basis of the “One nation, two states” principle established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, adding: “Our brotherly countries constantly support each other in all matters.”
The sides hailed the exceptional role of the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Türkiye in elevating relations to the current level, noting that their personal friendship, brotherhood, as well as political will and determination have ensured the high level of bilateral ties.
The meeting also emphasized that the high-level relations between the two countries contribute to the further strengthening of cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
The parties underscored the importance of the Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Pakistan trilateral summit in the context of these relations.
Both sides emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue in further deepening bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
They also noted that the reconciliation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia would have a positive impact on achieving long-term peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
