President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Isa Habibbayli met with professor Şaban Doğan, Chairman of the Turkish Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Burcu Bilir, archaeologist, member of the Climate Action Network.
Highlighting the archaeological excavations, academician Isa Habibbayli emphasized that excavations were also carried out in Karabakh, Khojaly, Aghdam and Asgaran districts by employees of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS last year. He noted that excavations are also scheduled in Lachin and Kalbajar.
The head of ANAS emphasized that the memorandum of cooperation signed between the Turkish Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Institute and the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology would provide impetus to future joint archaeological research, expeditions and projects.
Professor Şaban Doğan underlined that the primary objective of the Institute of Turkish Archaeology and Cultural Heritage is to conduct research on Turkish and Islamic archaeology, mainly in Turkic speaking countries, as well as in the Balkans and the Middle East.
