Minister of Defense of Mongolia Batlut Damba, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, held official talks with Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, Montsame reported.
The ministers first met one-on-one, exchanging views on the current state and future strategic direction of bilateral relations in defense and security, as well as the broader diplomatic ties between the two countries, which span more than half a century.
They subsequently signed three intergovernmental documents aimed at strengthening the longstanding friendly relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Türkiye in the defense sector:
• A Protocol on Military Training Cooperation;
• An Agreement on Financial Cooperation in the Military Sector;
• A Protocol on the Implementation of Financial Assistance.
The Military Training Cooperation Protocol provides a framework for the reciprocal training of military personnel, professional development, exchange of experience, and expanded cooperation in military education and training.
The Agreement on Financial Cooperation in the Military Sector and the Protocol on the Implementation of Financial Assistance are expected to enhance Mongolia’s defense sector's capabilities, support the modernization of military equipment, strengthen training and preparedness, and facilitate the implementation of mutually beneficial projects and initiatives.
According to the Ministry of Defense, these agreements will contribute significantly to deepening the defense partnership between Mongolia and Türkiye and strengthening joint efforts to promote regional and international peace and security.
During the visit, Minister Batlut presented Minister Yaşar Güler with the “For International Military Cooperation” medal in recognition of his valuable contribution to advancing defense cooperation between the two countries.
The visit also marked the renewal of an intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation between Mongolia and Türkiye for the first time in 11 years.
