Trade Unions Confederation Chairman discusses labor conditions in Azerbaijan at meetings in Geneva

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, Sahib Mammadov, held meetings in Geneva with ITUC Secretary General Luc Triangle and Director of the ILO Bureau for Workers' Activities (ACTRAV) Helena André on the margins of the 113th session of the International Labour Conference.

Mammadov provided information on efforts to protect labor rights and ensure decent working conditions in Azerbaijan. He then highlighted reforms and new initiatives introduced by Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, in line with modern challenges and trends.

He emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan’s partnership with the ILO on the "Decent Work Country Program for 2025–2029," particularly in promoting social dialogue, labor rights, gender equality, and a fair transition to a sustainable economy.

ITUC and ILO representatives praised the reforms undertaken by Azerbaijani trade unions and expressed confidence in continued cooperation.

The meetings also addressed the relevance of decisions made at COP29, held in Azerbaijan, and discussed topics such as workplace safety, informal employment, and the rights of women and youth in the labor process.
