Iran Releases Statistics on Ships Applying for Passage Through Hormuz
The Persian Gulf Waterway Administration, established by Iran to regulate passages through the Strait of Hormuz, announced that over 300 ships have applied for passage permits since April.
The Persian Gulf Waterway Administration (PGWA), established by Iran to regulate passages through the Strait of Hormuz, has published statistics on its social media account regarding the passages through the Strait of Hormuz. According to this, since April, more than 300 ships not affiliated with Iran have applied for passage permits, with the majority of these ships reported to be oil tankers. It was stated that 42% of the ships applying for permits are oil tankers, 27% are dry bulk, 11% are container ships, 8% are LNG, 6% are cargo, and 4% are service vessels.
It was noted that 77% of the ships applying for passage permits through the Strait of Hormuz are seeking to exit the Persian Gulf, while 23% are applying to enter the Persian Gulf.
