US President Donald Trump announced to the American press that they will take over the control of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated, “We will hold the Strait and probably take over its management. We will be the guardian of the Strait. Maybe we will call it the 'guardian angel of the Strait'.”
Arguing that they need to charge for ensuring the security of the Strait, Trump said, “We have protected the Strait for 50 years but never received payment in return. We protected it for nothing, now we will make money. An agreement was made, the Iranians backed out of their promises. They always back out of their promises. We made 10 agreements with these people. Therefore, we will respond to them very harshly.”
