A fire on a ferry off the coast of Indonesia's Madura Island has resulted in 5 deaths and 41 missing.
According to a statement from the Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency, a fire on the ship named 'Mutiara Santosa 2', sailing in the Java Sea north of Madura Island in East Java province, resulted in the deaths of 5 people and left 41 missing. It was reported that there were a total of 271 people on the ferry, including 232 passengers and 39 crew members. Officials stated that search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area and 225 people have been rescued.
