Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi said, “We are not in negotiations with the US.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi made remarks on current issues during his weekly press conference held in the capital, Tehran. Bekayi stated that the talks with Oman are aimed at establishing a new and temporary route to ensure safe ship passages in the Strait of Hormuz, adding, “We are not in negotiations with the US. As long as the US continues its naval blockade and attacks, there will be no change in the current situation of the Strait of Hormuz.”
Bekayi noted that Pakistan is currently the mediator country, with Qatar supporting the mediation efforts, and stated that China is concerned about the increasing conflict and insecurity in the region. Bekayi said, “China is making efforts to prevent the situation from worsening further.”
Regarding the attack on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea by Ukraine, Bekayi stated that Ukrainian officials said the incident was not intentional, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made statements in a different direction. Bekayi commented, “We are waiting to see if Ukraine will take a step to confirm its claims that this incident was not intentional. We will take necessary measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.”
