Colombian President Gustavo Petro claimed in a post on his social media account that there are dozens of tons of explosives in the city of Cali, where the inauguration ceremony of the elected President Abelardo de la Espriella, who will take office on August 7, will be held. Petro stated, “We are aware of the presence of dozens of tons of explosives in Cali. Drug trafficking groups want to carry out terrorist acts to justify the declaration of a state of emergency affecting general life.”
On the other hand, authorities announced that a security force consisting of more than 11,000 police and soldiers will be deployed in Cali to prevent any kind of violence during the inauguration ceremony.
