The mandatory military service period has been extended under a new regulation in the Danish army. In the first phase of the new system, a group of 1,600 volunteers has started their training. With the implemented reform, for the first time in the country's history, women have been included in the military system under equal conditions with men.
In the new system, it is stated that soldiers will take part in operational duties for 6 months following a 5-month basic training. It is reported that soldiers will undertake various roles such as unmanned aerial vehicle operation, radar assistance, and patrolling at 14 different training centers in the navy, air force, and army. With the new regulation aiming to enhance the operational capability of the Danish army, it is planned to increase the number of conscripted soldiers from 5,000 to 7,500 annually by 2033.
