Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska reported that nearly 70,000 of the approximately 72,000 irregular migrants who entered Ceuta have left.
Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska made a statement regarding irregular migration attempts towards Ceuta, Spain's territory in North Africa located on the Moroccan border, following the European Union (EU) Interior Ministers' Extraordinary Meeting. Marlaska noted that nearly 70,000 of the approximately 72,000 irregular migrants who entered Ceuta have returned to Morocco, and stated that they are concerned with the situation of those remaining within Spain's borders, adding that migrants will be repatriated if necessary. Marlaska also mentioned that 75 people lost their lives during the transition to Ceuta.
