A 'red alert' has been issued in 27 cities in Italy due to extreme heat.
According to the bulletin published by the Italian Ministry of Health, two more cities have been added to the 'red alert' system at the third level, which is applied in 25 cities. The Ministry of Health explained that the 'third level' red alert means that prolonged extreme heat poses a health risk for the entire community. Officials warned citizens to avoid direct sunlight between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM and to consume at least 1.5 liters of water daily, as temperatures in some regions of Italy have approached 40 degrees in recent days.
