In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, outdoor work during midday hours has been banned for 10 days due to high temperatures.
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ministry of Labor and Social Security has banned outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:00 to 16:00 between August 5 and August 15 due to high temperatures. The ministry's statement indicated that the regulation was implemented to protect workers who are directly exposed to high temperatures from heatstroke, excessive fluid loss, and similar health risks.
The statement also noted that employers in the agriculture and construction sectors operating outside residential areas may start work earlier to ensure safety. It was stated that within the scope of the early start application, employers could determine the hours for transporting and dispatching ready-mixed concrete, other construction materials, and construction machinery to construction sites, and employers were asked to show the necessary sensitivity.
