An unmanned aerial vehicle carrying an explosive device was reported to have been found at Leipzig/Halle Airport in eastern Germany.
Saxony police announced that a bomb disposal robot was dispatched to Leipzig/Halle Airport after an employee noticed an explosive device near cargo planes belonging to Ukraine during the night. It was also reported that a second unidentified object collided with a cargo plane near the same airport, and the plane landed in Hanover with minor damage.
A police spokesperson stated that the explosive-laden object was detected near parked Antonov planes. Officials noted that the detonator was removed from the device and that the police conducted a controlled detonation. They announced that flights on the northern runway had resumed, but the southern runway remained closed.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
