Iran announced that an agreement was reached with Oman on the route to be established to ensure the safe passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian press published a statement by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Bekayi stated that in the negotiations conducted by Iran and Oman, the two coastal states, to determine a route that will ensure the safe passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, the technical, legal, security, and environmental aspects of the route were thoroughly examined by Iran's relevant institutions.
Emphasizing that an agreement was reached on the geographical coordinates of the route being worked on by the parties, Bekayi said, “If third parties do not obstruct the process, the joint declaration containing the basic issues agreed upon by the two countries is also in the final review and draft stage.”
