Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakçi stated, “We are not negotiating with the US.”
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakçi made a statement to the country's media regarding contacts with the US. Arakçi noted that message exchanges continue through intermediaries between the parties, stating, “We are not negotiating with the US. Messages are exchanged through intermediaries, but this is not called negotiation.”
Arakçi emphasized that for negotiations to resume, the US must fulfill its obligations regarding the breach of the memorandum of understanding, saying, “As long as the US does not compensate for the issues it violated in the memorandum of understanding, it is not possible for negotiations to resume.”
Regarding the negotiations conducted with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz, Arakçi commented, “The negotiations conducted with Oman do not mean that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened. For this to happen, other conditions must also be met. These conditions have been conveyed to the US side through intermediaries.”
