Two tankers belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) were reported to have been attacked while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Iran for the attack.
According to the official news agency of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), two tankers belonging to ADNOC were targeted in the Strait of Hormuz last night. Company officials reported that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident and that the situation was completely under control.
Following the attack, a statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its social media account condemned the action carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. The statement emphasized that the attack was a clear violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirms freedom of navigation; it was stated that targeting commercial ships and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of economic blackmail constitutes piracy and poses a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.
The statement also called on Iran to immediately cease its attacks and all hostile actions; it urged the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to navigation in order to protect regional security and global trade.
