Due to severe rainfall in Japan's Chiba Prefecture, 8 people have died and 4 have been injured.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) announced that a record rainfall of 348 millimeters was recorded in Chiba Prefecture within 12 hours, which is approximately three times the average for August in the prefecture. Chiba Prefecture officials reported that a total of 8 people lost their lives and 4 others were slightly injured in incidents occurring in the cities of Chiba, Kashiwa, Ichikawa, Sakura, and Yachiyo.
While the highest level emergency warning issued in the region against severe rainfall and landslide risk was downgraded to lower levels as of this morning, the public was urged to remain cautious against potential new rainfall.
