U.S. President Donald Trump stated that they will impose the toughest sanctions in history against Iran and noted that countries providing aid to the Tehran administration will also face significant economic consequences.
U.S. President Donald Trump made statements on his social media account regarding the new sanctions to be imposed on Iran. Trump, who argued that the Tehran administration was given an opportunity to make a deal but did not take advantage of it, said, “I am announcing the most crushing economic operation ever conducted against any country. This will be an unprecedented scale of economic war and isolation. Their navies have been destroyed, air forces annihilated, military factories turned to rubble, currencies devalued, and their countries are hanging by a thread.”
Warning countries that maintain commercial and financial relations with Iran, Trump stated, “Any country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or public institutions to provide any lifeline to Iran will also face very large economic consequences.”
Emphasizing the need to immediately halt illegal activities, Trump said, “Oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, currency exchanges, ship registries, shell companies. All of these need to stop immediately. You know who you are. This will be an 'economic D-Day' and we need all our allies to stand with the United States to isolate and defeat the Iranian threat. These historic measures will cripple them and their ability to terrorize worldwide. Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”
