US Approves $4.5 Billion Sale of Refueling Aircraft to Qatar
The US Department of State has approved the potential sale of KC-46A aerial refueling aircraft and related equipment to Qatar, valued at $4.5 billion.

In a statement from the US Department of State, it was reported that the Qatari government requested to purchase four KC-46A refueling aircraft valued at $4.5 billion, along with various advanced defense and ammunition systems such as turbofan engines, radar warning receivers, laser transmitters, and missile warning sensors. The sales package also includes electronic warfare database support, encryption modules, navigation and friend-or-foe identification systems, as well as technical and logistical support services.

The statement emphasized that the sale in question would support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States, noting that Qatar is an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East. It was stated that the approved package would enhance Qatar's interoperability with US and allied forces, while the equipment and support to be sold would not alter the basic military balance in the region.
