Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made statements regarding the latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz on his social media account. Claiming that the US is trying to pass some ships through the Strait of Hormuz, Ghalibaf said, “Full control of the Strait of Hormuz is in the hands of our armed forces. The US is trying to pass a few ships through the strait like thieves and smugglers, but they encounter intervention from our armed forces. If the control of the strait is in the hands of the US, why do they have to repeat this every day and attack our islands?” he said.
Ghalibaf argued that the US assured ships that they could pass through the Strait of Hormuz, but these ships were attacked, stating, “Contrary to the agreement, the US is trying to use the southern route of the strait. We will not allow this. Before the war, at least 120 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz daily. Even the passage of one or two ships cannot be compared to the pre-war period,” he said.
Ghalibaf noted that the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to fulfill the terms of the agreement in line with the instructions of the country's leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, and said, “I ask all politicians from all sides to put aside disagreements. We will never surrender militarily or politically,” he declared.
