Former US President Barack Obama stated in a post on his social media account that governments need to take more steps against the potential impacts of artificial intelligence on security, employment, and children. Noting that the development of artificial intelligence cannot be completely halted, Obama said, “We can collectively determine how the development and use of artificial intelligence will proceed. This week, I was encouraged to see that leaders of pioneering research companies in the field of artificial intelligence agreed on the necessity to slow down the pace of development. However, what gives me even more hope is the growing awareness that the issue of how this powerful new technology should be developed needs to be at the center of our public discussions.”
