Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen's Reaction to Russia: A Reckless Act
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen criticized the firing of a flare by a Russian warship at a Danish Air Force helicopter in the Baltic Sea as a 'reckless' act. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen stated that the situation was unacceptable and announced that the Russian Ambassador to Copenhagen was summoned to the ministry.
In a statement by the Danish Armed Forces, it was noted that a 'Fennec' type helicopter belonging to the Air Force was targeted while conducting a routine photo mission towards a Russian warship off the coast of the town of Gedser in the Baltic Sea. It was reported that the Russian warship fired two emergency flares towards the helicopter, one of which passed very close to the helicopter.
Following the incident, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen made a statement on her social media account criticizing Russia's stance. In her statement, Frederiksen said, “Yesterday, during a routine flight, Russia's reckless act against the Danish military took place. Russian actions aim to intimidate and divide. They will not succeed. We will not give up.”
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen also reacted to the incident, stating that the intervention on the Air Force helicopter was completely unacceptable. Rasmussen emphasized that they took action following the development, saying, “The Russian ambassador was summoned to the ministry to discuss the incident.”
