Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on his social media account that Russia continues its relentless attacks on civilian transportation and critical logistics infrastructure. He announced that the Russian army targeted an intercity passenger minibus near the city of Nikopol with a drone, resulting in the deaths of 5 people and injuries to 7 others, according to initial assessments.
Zelensky stated that a diesel locomotive of a passenger train and the train station in the Mykolaiv region were directly hit, and approximately 170 passengers were evacuated without any casualties thanks to timely intervention by the teams. He also noted that an electric locomotive was targeted in the city of Kovel.
'PEACE CANNOT BE ACHIEVED BY EASING SANCTIONS'
Emphasizing that Russia's attacks on civilian targets have no military justification, Zelensky called on the international community to increase pressure on Moscow. Zelensky stated, “No concession presented as easing sanctions on the aggressor state will bring peace. While such brutal deaths occur every day, it is vital to maintain sanctions with determination. It is time to employ diplomacy based on strength, not to reduce pressure.”
In his statement, Zelensky also referred to the pending bills in the US Congress and the European Union's negotiations to expand sanctions against Russia, thanking the countries that continue to protect airspace and support Ukraine.
