Trump's Statement on Iran: Hopefully, We Are Moving Towards the End of the War

U.S. President Donald Trump made statements to the press upon landing in North Carolina, where he went to attend an event. Noting that the Iranian administration has made direct contact with them to make a deal, Trump said that Tehran wants to make an agreement. When asked about the stage of the war the U.S. is in, Trump replied, “Hopefully, we are moving towards the end of the war. Iran is very eager to make a deal, let's see how this process will conclude.”

When asked whether he received the news directly from Iran or through intermediaries, Trump stated that he received it 'directly.'

In another statement, President Trump also mentioned Canada. He found the idea of the European Union making Canada its first associate member 'ridiculous' and claimed that this move was a 'hostile act.' Trump emphasized to journalists that he could 'impose very serious tariffs or stop trading with Europe,' saying, “If it's in good faith, there's no problem. If it's in bad faith, we will impose very heavy tariffs on Europe.”
