Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy spoke on the phone with US President Donald Trump.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on his social media account that he had a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump. Zelenskiy emphasized the importance of the conversation, noting that they had the opportunity to discuss many topics. He also mentioned that they talked about the meeting planned to be held in New York in the coming days, stating, “We agreed to meet in New York, and this meeting could change many things. There is a diplomatic dynamic.”

Zelenskiy recalled that Trump's special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner recently visited Kyiv, saying, “The path to peace is the number one priority. There are ideas related to fundamental security issues such as reducing tension, as well as protecting energy, food, and human life. We are working with the American team and are ready to take serious steps. I thanked Trump for signing the bill that envisages sanctions against the Russian government and state companies, and tariffs for countries importing energy from Russia.”
