Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met with US President Donald Trump in New York during the 81st United Nations (UN) General Assembly meetings. After the meeting, Zelenskiy held a press conference, stating that the war should be ended as soon as possible, saying, "I think we all need to act as soon as possible. Leaders should come together to end the Russia-Ukraine War."
Stating that he is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Zelenskiy noted that Trump could work on a summit of US-Russia-Ukraine leaders. Zelenskiy said, "I am ready for a trilateral meeting, but I don't think Putin is ready for it. He is not ready to end the war. We are ready for an energy ceasefire as long as our energy sector is not targeted."
