Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that they will provide 100 million Canadian dollars in aid to Palestine.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made a statement to journalists in New York, where he is attending the 81st United Nations (UN) General Assembly meetings. Carney stated that the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza is severe and announced that of the 100 million Canadian dollars in aid to Palestine, 80 million will be allocated to humanitarian assistance and 20 million to the development of peace and security capacity.
Carney noted that the Israeli government's approval of the illegal E1 settlement project in East Jerusalem poses a direct threat to peace, stating, "We have announced our intention to implement trade restrictions on goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements. This is a pragmatic and concrete step towards preserving the possibility of a two-state solution and achieving lasting peace."
