The UK will establish a military space fleet to protect its interests and satellites in space from enemy interventions and attacks.
A written statement from the Royal Air Force (RAF) announced that a fleet will be established to protect the country's interests in space, prevent hostile interventions against satellites, and deter adversaries' space activities. The fleet, named 'No 3 Space Effects Squadron', will include components from all branches of the armed forces and aim to protect satellites in orbit.
The new fleet will be part of the family formed by the 'No 1 Space Operations Squadron' and the 'No 2 Space Warning Squadron', which conduct observation and warning missions related to hostile actions in space. It will take direct action against these activities. The fleet will carry out attack and defense missions and will be equipped against electronic warfare and weapons targeting satellites.
