51 countries, including 27 EU member states, the UK, Israel, Japan, South Korea, and Australia, have called on Russia to accept a 'full, immediate, and unconditional' ceasefire.
Representatives of 51 countries, including the 27 member states of the European Union (EU) and countries such as the United Kingdom, Israel, Australia, South Korea, and Japan, made a joint statement in New York, USA, ahead of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Ukraine. The statement, which conveyed a message of solidarity with Ukraine, noted deep concern over Russia's escalating attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure across Ukraine.
The statement emphasized that Ukraine accepted a 'full, immediate, and unconditional' ceasefire from March 2025, stating, “We call on Russia to finally do the same as a step towards meaningful diplomacy and negotiations leading to peace. Ukraine wants peace. We want peace. Russia must end its aggression, accept the ceasefire, and engage meaningfully in negotiations towards a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in accordance with international law.”
