On the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq.
The meeting focused on bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iraq. The sides highlighted the importance of mutual support on regional and international platforms in further strengthening relations based on historical friendship and solidarity.
The ministers also discussed cooperation within multilateral platforms, including preparations for the Seventh Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), to be held in Azerbaijan in October, as well as the OIC Summit scheduled for next year.
They further exchanged views on the challenging regional situation in the broader Middle East.
