9 Soldiers Killed in Naval Exercise in Kazakhstan

During a naval exercise held on the shores of the Caspian Sea in the Mangystau region of southwestern Kazakhstan, 19 soldiers were swept into the sea due to suddenly worsening weather conditions. The Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense reported that 9 soldiers died in the incident, and one of the 3 rescued soldiers was hospitalized.

According to a statement by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense, an accident occurred during an exercise conducted by the Kazakhstan Naval Forces personnel on the shores of the Caspian Sea in the Mangystau region, located in the southwest of the country. It was stated that due to suddenly worsening weather conditions and intensified winds, 19 soldiers were swept away by the waves and dragged into the sea.

Initial reports indicated that 9 soldiers lost their lives in the incident. It was reported that one of the 3 soldiers rescued from the sea was taken to the hospital for treatment, and search efforts for the 7 missing soldiers are ongoing. It was stated that personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, aviation units, and other relevant institutions participated in the search and rescue operations.
