Iranian President Mesud Pezeşkiyan said, “We do not trust the American side and do not know on what basis an agreement can be reached.”
Iranian President Mesud Pezeşkiyan evaluated the developments in the region and the negotiations between the US and Iran in an interview with the Qatari press. Regarding the Mecca Defense Agreement signed between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, Pezeşkiyan said, "The agreement is a positive step forward for the unity of Muslims. This step could be a move towards Muslims sitting side by side and achieving Islamic unity instead of fighting."
Pezeşkiyan stated that Tehran does not trust Washington regarding the negotiations with the US, saying, "We do not trust the American side and do not know on what basis an agreement can be reached. Mediators Qatar and Pakistan have conveyed Iran's messages to Washington. The talks are based on the memorandum of understanding reached between the two sides in June."
Pezeşkiyan claimed that the transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz have been closed against Iran, and stated that if the war is ended through negotiations, the strait could be reopened to commercial ships.
