Pashinyan: Azerbaijani railway used to transport cargo to Armenia; TRIPP project set to be implemented

The Azerbaijani railway is being used to transport cargo to Armenia, while the implementation of the TRIPP project will enable direct railway communication between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said as he addressed a limited-format meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Turkmenbashi.

Pashinyan noted that the situation in the region had changed significantly over the past two-plus years.

According to him, the Azerbaijani railway had been available for transporting Armenian cargo for nearly a year. He also reported that bilateral trade between Armenia and Azerbaijan had commenced.

Speaking about prospects for regional transport links, the Armenian prime minister said that the TRIPP project was expected to be implemented in Armenia in the near future, which, he noted, would help unblock regional communications.
