“Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are exploring environmental cooperation in a number of areas, including the development of satellite monitoring systems for oil spill prevention and response, the application of digital and innovative environmental technologies, water resource management, the exchange of experience in biodiversity protection, and joint scientific and educational initiatives,” Kazakhstan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Yerlan Nyssanbayev said in an interview with AZERTAC.
The minister noted that two events are planned this year at the Kazakh Research Institute of the Caspian Sea in Aktau to expand scientific collaboration among the Caspian littoral states, including Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The first event will be a training seminar on monitoring the marine environment of the Caspian Sea. The second will mark the 20th anniversary of the Tehran Convention and will focus on joint scientific research aimed at addressing the current challenges facing the Caspian Sea.
Nyssanbayev emphasized that satellite monitoring will be one of the priority areas of environmental cooperation between the two countries.
The events are scheduled to be held in Aktau between June and August, with the participation of specialists and scientists from all Caspian littoral states.
