Judo, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling army championship, held according to the 2026 training plan at the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev, wrapped up, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
During the closing ceremony, the memory of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, and Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was honored with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed with the accompaniment of the military orchestra.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of such competitions in maintaining a high level of physical readiness among personnel of the Azerbaijan Army, congratulated the winning teams, and wished them success in their future activities. It was noted that a total of 297 athletes from 11 teams competed in 10 weight categories in Judo, Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling.
Based on the points awarded by the referees, winners were announced in both individual and team standings.
The winning teams were then presented with cups, while servicemen received honorary certificates, medals, and diplomas for their individual achievements.
