The 4th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was held in Baku.
Prior to the meeting, the participants of the 4th Azerbaijan-Jordan Intergovernmental Commission commemorated the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honors, and laid flowers at his tomb.
They also put flowers at the graves of prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva. The delegation visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Victory Park, to pay tribute to the memory of Azerbaijani martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The meeting held before the 4th meeting between the co-chairs of the Commission – Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance Sahil Babayev and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply of Jordan Yarub Qudah, explored the current state of bilateral cooperation and opportunities for enhancing cooperation, and reviewed the extensive agenda of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.
Addressing the meeting, Sahil Babayev emphasized that the relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan were formed more than 30 years and the high-level political dialogue between President Ilham Aliyev and King Abdullah II played a crucial role in strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The Minister stated that the Intergovernmental Commission is a pivotal platform in the development of bilateral relations, adding that the 4th meeting of the Commission will mark an important stage in advancing previous initiatives and, enhancing new areas of cooperation.
Sahil Babayev underlined that the economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Jordan is developing dynamically, adding that there is greater potential between the parties. He noted that the results of the Intergovernmental Commission will also be productive in terms of fostering cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, industry, energy, transport, agriculture, digital development, education, science, culture, tourism, food security, healthcare, customs and other areas.
Co-chair of the Commission, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply of Jordan Yarub Qudah, emphasized that relations between the two countries provide broad opportunities for economic cooperation. He said Jordan is keen on further deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan in the fields of trade, investment, industry, energy, tourism and logistics.
