A landmine explosion occurred on March 12 in the village of Ashaghi Veysalli in Azerbaijan’s Khojavand district, according to a joint statement issued by the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Mine Action Agency of Azerbaijan (ANAMA).
The statement said that Hajiyev Ramiz Mashallah oghlu, a resident of the Aghdam district, born in 1968, was killed after his horse stepped on an anti-tank landmine while grazing cattle in an area not cleared of mines on the former line of contact. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General’s Office once again urged citizens to follow safety regulations, heed mine-warning signs, and avoid unfamiliar or potentially dangerous areas.
