The Swedish analytical portal "Agenda Nexus" has published an article highlighting Azerbaijan's growing role in ensuring Europe's energy security against the backdrop of a changing global situation.
The article emphasizes that, amid instability in global energy markets and risks to key supply routes, Europe is increasingly seeking alternative sources and routes. In this context, Azerbaijan's significance as both an energy supplier and a transit hub is expanding.
The article notes that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the country has pursued a balanced foreign policy, establishing close strategic relations with Israel while deepening its partnership with Europe and the United States. This allows Azerbaijan to maintain a stable position within a complex geopolitical environment.
"Ilham Aliyev's leadership combines pragmatic diplomacy, strategic thinking, and the ability to act effectively beyond ideological boundaries—qualities that are becoming increasingly rare," the author writes.
It was noted that Azerbaijan already exports gas to Europe through the Southern Gas Corridor and is concurrently developing infrastructure in the electricity, green energy, and hydrogen sectors. The country's geographical location and the resources of the Caspian Sea further enhance its role as a long-term partner.
Special attention is paid to the Zangezur corridor, which is viewed as a potential overland route between the Caspian region and Europe via Türkiye. This project could expand transport and energy connections while reducing dependence on unstable routes.
The author concludes that in the context of the evolving international situation, the development of alternative routes and cooperation with new partners have become key factors in Europe's energy sustainability.
