Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis hosts 13th meeting of TURKPA Commission on Economic Cooperation

On April 7, Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis hosted the 13th meeting of the Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The session centered on the theme: "Realities and prospects of conducting joint economic activities of TURKPA member states."

The meeting was chaired by Anas Bakkozhaev, Chairman of the Commission, member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the opening ceremony Chairman of the Commission Anas Bakkozhaev and other members of the Commission – members of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aghalar Valiyev and Fazil Mustafa, member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Bekmurza Ergeshov, members of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mahmut Rıdvan Nazırlı and Cemal Enginyurt, Ambassador of Hungary in Azerbaijan Ambassador Tamás Torma, Representative of TRNC to Baku Ufuk Turganer, and TURKPA Deputy Secretary General Muhammet Alper Hayali delivered speeches.

Following the speeches, the members of the Commission discussed the agenda items and exchanged views on the further development of economic cooperation between the TURKPA member countries, overcoming modern challenges, coordinating actions and uniting the Turkic world in the face of global and regional threats.

In the workshop session, moderated by Baurjan Datkayev, presentations were delivered by Chairman of the Commission, member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Anas Bakkozhaev, member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fazil Mustafa, member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Bekmurza Ergeshov, members of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mahmut Rıdvan Nazırlı, TURKPA Deputy Secretary General Muhammet Alper Hayali, the Head of the Sector for the Civil Rights Legislation of the Economic Legislation Department of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Azer Samadov, Head of the Industrial Policy Sector of the Industry Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Zaur Mammadov, Trade Chief Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in the Republic of Azerbaijan Gülizar Yavaş, Assistant of the Legislative Specialist of the Department on Foreign Affairs and Protocol of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Yunus Emre Ünal, and Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Secretariat of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) Israil Tilegen.

Following the speeches, the discussions during the meeting and the seminar focused on the promising areas of economic cooperation, including the development of the meat market in the Turkic States, and the expansion of trade cooperation in various sectors of the economy. Special emphasis was placed on possible joint cooperation projects in the various field of economy of the TURKPA Member States.

The Commission conducted discussion and approved the report and recommendation on the main item, as well as the draft Model Law “On Joint Venture”, elaborated within the framework of the Commission, to be submitted to the 15th Plenary Session of TURKPA to be held in Kyrgyz Republic on October of this year.

The Commission decided to hold its next meeting in Kazakhstan in 2027 on the main item “Ensuring Economic Security in TURKPA Member States: Positive Practice as a Model to Apply” and to develop the draft Model Law “On smart city and village” as set out in the Strategic Roadmap for 2023-2028 within the framework of the Commission’s work plan for 2027.

The aim of the workshop was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge in the field of economic cooperation among the TURKPA Member States, which possess considerable economic potential, diverse resources, and a shared historical and cultural space that provides a solid foundation for strengthening joint economic activities and deepening regional integration.
