Former Deputy PM: Baku and Sofia's energy partnership has potential for expansion

Energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria has significant potential for further expansion in the next five to ten years, former Bulgarian Deputy Energy Minister Yavor Kuyumdzhiev said in the latest episode of the "Azerbaijan and the World" program broadcast on the AZERTAC website.

According to him, despite certain limitations on natural gas supplies, Azerbaijan remains an important and reliable energy partner.

An additional area of cooperation could be the development of renewable energy sources and expanded cooperation in the electric power sector, the expert believes.

He emphasized that Bulgaria has significant potential in energy storage and balancing, including the development of battery systems with a capacity of over 10,000 MW and large-scale solar energy development. Kuyumdzhiev believes this opens up significant opportunities for joint projects with Azerbaijan.
